Just Saw Blades Is Now Selling Popular Tools Industrial Saw Blades

Since SystiMatic is effectively out of business, Just Saw Blades has added the impressive Popular Tools line of industrial and commercial grade circular saw blades. And their lineup is equally impressive - not to mention broad; they make and stock blades in sizes from 3-7/8" to 30" (the latter in General Purpose and Non-Ferrous blades). They also have more blades for metric and European saws than any other manufacturer, many complete with pinholes and keyways to fit hard-to-fit machines.

Not only does Popular make a LOT of blades, they make QUALITY blades. With their precise manufacturing processes, they produce blades with runout of .002" or less, even up to those mammoth 30" models! That's performance in a big blade that rivals a 10" Forrest Woodworker. And that's unheard of!

Popular Tools Amazing Dado Sets

Along with their superb saw blades, Popular Tools makes what might just be the best dado sets on the market today. It's rare to find a stack dado with six teeth on the chippers, even more rare to see the EIGHT tooth chippers on these sets. The more teeth on them, the smoother and flatter the bottom of your grooves will be.

Now, how about the outside cutting blades? Forty teeth for extremely clean, smooth cuts and flat-top teeth mixed in to extend that flat bottom all the way to the edge. No "bat wings" with these dados!

Popular Tool dado sets come in sizes from 6" to 12" and the 8", 10" and 12" models are available with a negative hook / rake on the outside cutters - essential if you're cutting dados in melamine or want to limit tear-out in soft wood like conifers. (The 6" model comes with 20 teeth on the outside cutters and 4 on the chippers, as you can see in the photo below.)

And we're not done yet: Each Popular Tools dado set comes in a nice hinged wooden box to protect it and keep it clean when you're not using it.

Gold Medal Dado Set by Tenryu

Made with the same quality and precision as the award-winning Gold Medal Combination saw blades, the Tenryu Gold Medal Dado Set will give you clean, crisp dados and grooves. With its 40 tooth zero degree rake outside cutters, it's great for fine veneers and thin laminates - even Melamine! And the aggressive-rake inside chippers give you amazingly flat bottom cuts.

Due to their aggressive hook angles, most dado sets can't safely be used on radial arm saws. The teeth tend to either lift the material or try to run out into it and bind up. If you've ever tried a positive hook blade on a radial arm, you know what I'm talking about. I couldn't tell you how many times I tripped a breaker using my RAS years ago, before there were blades made (or before I knew about them, anyway) for radial arms. And when the blade tries to walk across the top of the board, that can't be doing the saw any favors!

Unlike all those other dado sets, the Tenyru Gold Medal Dado CAN be used on a radial arm. And, if the arbor shaft is long enough, on a sliding miter as well. Think how much easier it would be grooving boards for bookshelves if you could do it on a RAS or slide miter saw!

Now, a good dado set is an investment and you want to keep it in tip-top shape so you need a good way to protect it when you're not using it. With that in mind, Tenryu sets come complete with the fine wooden case you see in the picture here.

And speaking of investment, this is what Woodworkers Journal Magazine had to say about the Gold Medal Dado:

...."Its C4 carbide teeth are thicker and taller than the Forrest blade, so you may just get a few more trips into the sharpening service with this blade before it needs a fresh set of teeth"...

At this time, the Tenryu dado set only comes in one size: 8" with a 5/8" arbor, which is ideal for 8" or 10" saws. If you need something larger, check out SystiMatic Dado Sets.
